La Petite Perriere Sauvignon blanc 2013

The turkey was fine, but the dressing had a lot of sage.

Not that big of a problem since it was Thanksgiving, Part Deux at my dining room table – the day after the holiday. Hosting the Thursday Thanksgiving for my extended family is not my tradition, but a Friday Thanksgiving for my immediate family is for the simple fact there can be leftovers all weekend.

And so on the day after Thanksgiving, a fresh turkey with new potatoes, fresh gravy, your own green beans and a store-bought pumpkin pie, supplemented with leftover stuffing sent home with us the day before. A family recipe that calls for a preponderence of sage.

The wine on the day after: La Petite Perriere Sauvignon Blanc 2013, a good holiday wine for a Thanksgiving meal that is both comfort food and gourmet dinner, with a variety of flavors coming at you at every turn. La Petite Perriere, a crisp, dry, fruity wine, took care of the sage in the stuffing, clearing the palate with every sip and complementing the variety of food on the table.

But since it was a family dinner, there were a variety of opinions too. And so oftentimes that’s the best part of family dinner: Food consumed, talk continues. And as I sipped the sauvignon blanc, the discussion turned to politics and culture with my boys, who were clearly growing into young men to think for themselves.
