I am not typically a fan of “themed” wines or gimmicky labels. That’s why I was a little bummed out to discover the only bottle of wine in the house was the “Fifty Shades of Grey White Silk Blend” someone had given to me as a gift. It had been a long stressful day so I opened it anyway. Once I took a sip, I was pleasantly surprised—it was good! The winemaker calls it a blend of Gewürztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc, but to my palate, it came across as Sauvignon Blanc. It was very light, fresh and florally. And even though I am also not a fan of the Fifty Shades of Grey book series either, I am a fan of this wine! I will definitely purchase it again and as with a good Sauvignon Blanc, I will serve this alongside my favorite Vietnamese carryout.
