Tenuta di Biserno – Biserno

 WINEMAKER’S NOTES:

All harvesting is done by hand into 15 kg crates, and in 2010 started the second week of September and finished early October. An unusually cold winter followed by cooler than normal temperatures during spring led to a late budburst and flowering. Above average rainfall throughout the growing season gave increased and prolonged vegetative growth. Strict and well-timed interventions in canopy management and yield control kept diseases at bay. The start of harvest was later than normal but the work performed in the vineyard allowed us to wait for the best moment to harvest despite numerous rainfalls in September. The tannins reached ripeness at lower sugar levels than previous vintages and the resulting wines show great finesse and balance.

Deep ruby red. Complex nose with scents of blackberries, freshly ground coffee and licorice. The palate has an elegant structure with fine grained tannins, balanced acidity and a mineral feel on the lengthy finish.

PAIRING SUGGESTIONS:

Pair with braised or roasted meats and hard cheeses.
