Tuesdays Unscrewed
The perfect Tuesday night wine isn’t expensive, it has to go with a quick easy meal, or leftovers, and it has to taste amazing, because it’s Tuesday night and you shouldn’t compromise…
Tenuta Sant’ Antonio Monti Garbi, Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore, Valpolicella, Veneto Italy
Veneto Italy is home to some of the world’s most elegant and classic wines. The climate and landscape is perfect for grape growing and for making many different styles of wine, from sparkling wine, still whites and reds to beautiful dessert wines, Veneto wines cover a wide range. Tenuta Sant’ Antonio winery is a family owned estate, four brothers with a passion for making wine that reflects the region. They pride themselves on growing the indigenous grapes of the region like Corvina, making traditional styles of wine and also bringing in new techniques to ensure quality. Today’s featured wine is a Ripasso, meaning that they add a younger Valpolicella wine to the dried grape skins that have been used to make Amarone. This passing through of the skins makes for an intense wine with layers of depth and wonderful fruit and spice components. It will pair perfectly with pork tenderloin, grilled vegetables or pasta. Cheers!
