I remember the first time I traveled to Sonoma’s Alexander Valley. I was immediately impressed by the rolling hills dotted here and there with vineyards. I soaked in the warm temperatures and endless sunshine that make the Alexander Valley a place where truly amazing wines are made. I was visiting the Rodney Strong winery, one of my favorite Sonoma wineries. Our guide was took us on a tour of their estate vineyards located in the higher elevations of Alexander Valley. I tasted the wine made from the estate grown grapes, listened to the history of the winery and appreciated the hard work that goes into making these remarkable wines.
Powerful, yet elegant tannins, dark red fruit and hints of chocolate, a very well balanced wine, grace in the glass. Rodney Strong Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon should be opened, decanted, and enjoyed with a juicy, grilled New York Strip steak. Heaven in a glass!
