Vintage 2015 in our estate located in the Friuli Grave Zone and has been characterized by a positive trend for the vineyard since the stage of vegetative growth which normally started with the budding in early April. Regular temperatures of the Spring months have guaranteed a good budding. The vines came to flowering (May, 20th) in optimal conditions with good photosynthetic efficiency. From mid-May to mid-August various heat waves with very high temperatures and very high brightness came in succession, though at the same time the rainfalls were regular throughout the whole period. The 2015 harvest started the first days of September showed immediately as a wonderful vintage. The excellent health and optimal ripeness that the grapes reached have extremely simplified the work in the cellar. All these elements have allowed us to do a 18/24 hours’ cryomaceration thus achieving more structured wines with more intense varietal aromas. Despite this maceration, we did not have the support of bitter tannins thanks to the extraordinary ripening of this year. The musts immediately turned out to be analytically excellent, both for sugars and for acid balance. The fermentation have been led to temperatures of 54 – 59° F in order to fully preserve fermentation aromas. The 2015 vintage has fully rewarded us with its excellent quality related to the obtained quantity permitting us to give it a 5 stars rating.
Shows intense, persistent aromas of tomato leaves, with wild green peppers and elderflower notes. The wine has elegant, fresh and full flavors on the palate, and excellent length on the palate.
Versatile, pairs with vegetable soups (especially cream-based soups) soufflés, egg-based dishes and asparagus. Also excellent with salami.
