WINEMAKER’S NOTES:
The rockiest section of the Rockpile Vineyard, Buffalo Hill always produces wines that showcase the purity of the site. Elegant and powerful.
Notes of black cherry, olive tapenade, smoked meats, cedar and tarragon. The minerality is present in both the aromatics as well as on the layers of the palate.
ACCOLADES:
98 Points – Robert M. Parker Jr., The Wine Advocate
“The 2013 Syrah Buffalo Hill Rockpile Vineyard, one of the specialties of Jeff Cohn, is even more complex and flirts with perfection. Notes of new saddle leather, blackberry, cassis and spring flowers are followed by a massively concentrated, but never heavy wine that carries its 15.5% natural alcohol flawlessly. This is great terroir, fabulous winemaking, and the result is a prodigious bottle of Syrah that certainly ranks with some of the finest ever made in California. It should drink well for at least 10-15 years, but good luck deferring your gratification on this one. Cohn does two other wines from the Rockpile vineyard. “
