The perfect Tuesday night wine isn’t expensive, it has to go with a quick easy meal, or leftovers, and it has to taste amazing, because it’s Tuesday night and you shouldn’t compromise…
Smoke & Mirrors Red Blend, California
There are some great red blends coming out of California. Blends made with a vast variety of grapes. From the expected Cabernet and Merlot blends to the more non-traditional field blends. Today’s featured wine from Jeff Cohn Cellars is a blend of grapes originally from Southern France with a backbone of Zinfandel. The Zin provides some nice jammy blackberry and cherry fruit and some spice. The other French varieties are Petite Sirah, Syrah, Grenache and the interesting Alicante Boucshet grape. This is a big, bold and flavorful wine with a long finish and plenty of rich tannins. It will pair well with BBQ; mainly ribs, pork steak or even bratwurst. The wine will benefit from some aeration, so we advise you to use an aerator or decant the wine for at least 30 minutes. Cheers!
