WINEMAKER’S NOTES:
Cool climate, great soils, and 10 year old head trained Zinfandel vines provide the base with 25% Petite Sirah bringing it home. Pat Cassata’s biodynamically farmed vineyard produces some of the most unique fruit in our portfolio. It’s off the charts in aromatics and profile on the palate. Blackberry and chocolate covered cherries at the forefront with black licorice, cracked black pepper, bramble and light toasted oak in the shadows. Intense and incredibly concentrated with deep, sultry tannins.
Blackberry jam, chocolate covered cherries, ground crushed black pepper and black licorice components.
ACCOLADES:
91 Points – Robert M. Parker, Jr., The Wine Advocate
“I had the pleasure of tasting two Zinfandels from Cohn. The 2013 Zinfandel Casssata Vineyard carries a Sonoma appellation and a bold 15.6% natural alcohol. A rich, black raspberry-scented nose, a full-bodied mouthfeel and delicious fruit-forward style is not going to make old bones, bur for drinking over the next 5-6 years, this is a sexy Zinfandel.”
