WINEMAKER’S NOTES:
The grapes for this wine were grown primarily in the Arroyo Seco appellation of Monterey County, which sits on a gravelly alluvial plain beneath the Santa Lucia mountain range. The gravelly loam soils of the appellation present ideal conditions for growing Merlot, allowing the grapes to develop intense red fruit flavors and deep color. We age our Merlot in French oak barrels which enhances mouthfeel and contributes dark chocolate and vanilla flavors.
Vibrant purple in the glass, showing initial scents of black cherry, cassis and raspberry. The soft grip of tannins on the palate pair with black plum flavors and rich notes of dark chocolate and mocha, ending in a smooth finish.
PAIRING SUGGESTIONS:
Seared duck breast, beef short ribs, grilled pork chops.
